![]() Stealth and distraction can be used to avoid unnecessary conflict. As the in-game days progress, tougher and more aggressive variants begin to appear. While the game includes wildlife that can be hunted for food or will hunt the player, the main hazard is zombies, which are affected by the game's day/night cycle-during the day they are relatively slow-moving and easy targets that can only detect the player at relatively close ranges, but at night they become feral, which makes them move much faster and thus greatly increases their threat. The player can also gather and create materials-from nature and the remnants of human civilization-to construct these necessary items. Objects in the world degrade through use, so the player has to search for or make new tools as the game progresses. The game is voxel-based (similar in some aspects to Minecraft, but with smooth terrain), allowing for simple building and destruction of objects in a physics-simulated environment (for example, building a structure with no support such as pillars and walls can lead to its collapse). As a survival game, the player character is in constant need of water and food for sustenance, as well as being vulnerable to injury and illness. The player can either spawn into a randomly generated world or the pre-set world of Navezgane, Arizona. The goal of 7 Days to Die is to survive as long as you can while fending off the elements and the hordes of zombies. The video with more explanation has since been removed by the developer. Though there is no real objective except surviving at this moment, the developers promised a dynamic storyline in the Kickstarter and stretch goals. The player is a survivor of the war who must survive by finding shelter, food and water, as well as scavenging supplies to fend off the numerous zombies (hinted to be the consequence of nuclear fallout, a new strain of flu, or both) that populate Navezgane. The game's events take place during a nuclear attack in the Third World War, which destroyed an extremely large part of the world, except for some areas such as the fictional county of Navezgane, Arizona. It is also available on Xbox One via Game Pass, but still unknown if it will return on PlayStation 4. In late 2022, The Fun Pimps announced that the game will be re-released on consoles targeting Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were released in 2016 through Telltale Publishing, but are no longer being developed. It was released through Early Access on Steam for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X on December 13, 2013, and for Linux on November 22, 2014. Synchronizing the structures of 4+ folder trees by hand sounds like very tedious and pointless busywork, and it would be particularly annoying if artists would have to navigate from one package’s deep folders into another one’s equivalent folders often quite a few of them wouldn’t figure out to change the name of the root folder in the address bar, but instead go all the way up, then all the way down the folder structure. An advantage of a mirrored tree is that a script can replace a single root folder in the path string and end up in the right place. Mirroring the whole tree for each package wouldn’t be a bad approach IF it was automated. Versioning by hand does tend to result in quite a mess, not to mention the potential for horrible mistakes, especially on the network… So if mess is an issue, you could try separating the shot assets into subfolders by package. Moving over to versioning in Perforce has made things a lot tidier for us lately. If it gets too messy, we add max/maya subfolders to the shot/sequence folder. It depends on the project, but shots or at least sequences tend to be separated into their own folders anyhow. We did not notice their files conflicting in any way. For example, if Max/Maya/Zbrush were used in making a model asset, the model’s folder would have 3 files in it. We mostly use the same folders for all related packages. ![]() Every Scene would need a new folder structure and every shot would need to be another scene “file” as there is no such thing as RenderLayers in LW.Īnyway… Keeping those things in mind.
